Beth Hudson

Inspired by: Tradition meeting contemporary design. I love to draw beautiful patterns inspired by historical architecture and ornamental detail, then bring them to life with a contemporary twist.

Course studied:
Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design (BA Hons)

Years in industry:
2 years

Favourite colours:
Rich, beautiful autumnal colours. Teals, burgundy, copper, deep-sea greens etc.

Favourite medium to work with:
Fine-liner pen or pencil. I also love Photoshop and Illustrator.

Favourite artist/movement:
I’ve always been inspired by William Morris and Owen Jones, the Arts and Crafts Movement and Art Nouveau. Historical pattern has a depth of detail that I really appreciate.

Favourite pastime:
Baking, of course! And reading. Anything that involves my imagination or creating something.

Hayley Wall

Inspired by: My surroundings, detail in nature, photography, culture, colour, texture and contrast.

Course studied:
BA Hons Surface Design for Interiors and Fashion

Years in industry:
8 years

Favourite colours:
Difficult question! I like lots of colours, probably more intense vibrant tones – at the moment Santorini blue.

Favourite medium to work with:
Ink and watercolour.

Favourite artist/movement:
Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts Movement. Love the elegant organic flowing lines inspired by botany.

Favourite pastime:
Exploring, photographing, drawing and painting, creating and baking.

Julie Robertson

Inspired by: Architecture, Fashion and Nature.

Course studied:
Textile Design

30 years

Favourite colours:
Purple, black, orange, lime, turquoise, greys and neutrals.

Favourite medium to work with:
Cad, paint, texture mediums and textiles.

Favourite artist/movement:
Surrealism, Magritte, Dali, Cubism, Leger, Cornelia Parker, Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood

Favourite pastime:
Art workshops, exhibitions and visiting historical properties.

I continue to study and work in a variety of different media and enjoy learning new skills and techniques.

I love working within the Hotel and Leisure Markets producing bespoke design solutions for a wide range of customers projects and in a variety of design styles.

Melissa Page

Inspired by: Cultures, visiting new places and seeing history through a designer’s eyes, catching the finer details that inspires new pattern.

Scouring antiques and junk shops, upcycling old furniture and gardening.
